Do you want to know something about how your Parish Council runs? Minutes - Parish Council meetings are public meeting so residents are most welcome and encouraged to attend. The minutes of meetings are public documents and can be viewed following their approval at the subsequent meeting. Every Parish Council meeting is minuted and these are public documents, once the minutes have been approved at the next meeting, click here to learn more about the Council Meetings. To see a set of archived minutes just click on the link below: Minutes for: Annual Parish Meeting - Every English parish must have a parish meeting which should assemble annually on some day between 1 March and 1 June (inclusive) every year and not before 6pm on an evening. If a parish has a Parish Council then the Chairman of that will preside over the Annual Parish Meeting. This meeting is an opportunity for each elector of the parish to have their vote on subjects contained on the agenda. Each elector attending has one vote on any matters put to the vote. This is not a Parish Council Meeting but an Annual Meeting of the Parish electors. Annual Meeting - This is the first meeting in May, or in an election year no later than 14 days following the election. The first business of the Annual Meeting, before anything else is to elect a Chairman and Vice Chairman. In 2007, because there is an election instead of the meeting being the first Wednesday, which was only 1 day before the election, it was moved to the week after. Meetings - Councillors give their time freely to attend meetings. There are 10 programmed full council meetings which are normally held one each month (except January and August), on the first Wednesday. There is one annual meeting called the Annual Parish Meeting, this is a public meeting for parishioners and must be held between 1 April and 30 June. Minutes of Parish Council meetings

Forthcoming Meetings: Meetings take place on the first Wednesday of the month, excluding January and September, between 7.00 pm and 8.00 pm and are held at Astley Village Community Centre, Hallgate, Astley Village (please see the noticeboard for the agenda). |
