2007 May Elections for Astley Village Parish Council

2007 elections will include 18 to 21 year olds in the process.

Following the amendments of the Electoral Administration Act 2006, which came into force on the 1 January 2007 the age restriction to be a Councillor in Local Government has been lowered from 21 to 18 years.

This now means that Council's may attract and benefit from having some younger members of their electoral region on the Council and, younger members of the village have their chance to shape and influence matters in their own area.

The election process is described above. Other items of useful information you may require before becomming a Councillor are also attached above.
